The SMF was established in 2001. It iis a non-profit charitable organization supported by Temasek Trust.


The SMF was set up to promote and advance scientific progress in Singapore and raise Singapore’s international visibility as a centre of knowledge creation.

The Board of Directors of the SMF comprises eminent members of the Scientific Community and Industry.

The Board is assisted by a Secretariat, which works closely with Singapore universities and Research Institutes to accomplish the SMF’s goals.
